The Orb — Available through The Orb

This vessel takes on a distinctly sculptural presence, its form rising with a gentle authority from a narrow stem into a broad, sheltering crown. The silhouette suggests natural growth without literal reference, balancing weight and lift through a single, continuous gesture. A small, restrained opening sits at the top, reinforcing the object’s emphasis on form over function.

The surface is densely textured with fine, radiating striations that spread outward from the stem, creating a tactile field that catches light unevenly. Finished in a warm, earthen tone, the piece feels grounded.

Tania Whalen,

Born in London and now based in Brooklyn, Whalen creates hand-built ceramic works that honor the raw, expressive nature of clay. Using traditional pinch and coil techniques, her process is slow and intuitive, allowing each form to develop organically. Textured surfaces and sculptural silhouettes emerge through touch, balance, and restraint.

Inspired by nature, architecture, and everyday forms, her work embraces imperfection and quiet strength. Often left unglazed on the exterior, the pieces emphasize tactility and the inherent character of the material, existing as singular objects that move fluidly between function and sculpture.
