Santos · Lisbon

Soon, we open the doors to our home.

The Orb House is our new space in Santos, Lisbon: a gallery of collectible design, the Japanese tea house OGATA, a listening room and a table for dinners, exhibitions and conversations — all under one roof.

The Orb, Santos, Lisbon Coming soon

Inside the house

Four rooms. Different rhythms. One house.

The tea house at the heart of the House

OGATA — tea

Why OGATA

Two shores, one cup of tea.

OGATA is the tea house of the Japanese designer Shinichiro Ogata — a place for tea, seasonal sweets and craft, first in Tokyo, then Paris. In Lisbon it opens inside The Orb.

Shinichiro Ogata was born in Nagasaki — the port that opened to Portuguese ships more than four centuries ago.

In Lisbon he found it again: the light on the water, the hills, the tiles, the same slow welcome.

Nagasaki ↔ Lisbon

Chá ↔ Cha

In Portuguese it is chá. In Japanese, cha. The word crossed the same sea.

Now, inside The Orb, the two worlds meet again. OGATA is the center of gravity of the house — the communal table, where people gather around the ceremony of tea and food, and stay.

Why The Orb

An orb pulls things into its orbit.

The Orb exists to bring the right things into proximity — and give them somewhere to become real.

Who we are

A design house where new work begins.

The Orb finds, represents and creates collectible design — bringing designers, brands, makers and ideas together across original works, projects and our physical house in Lisbon.

Founded by Alejandra Albarrán.

Founded by Alejandra Albarrán

The Orb grew from a belief that the most interesting work rarely happens in isolation — it happens when the right people, disciplines and ideas find each other.
