Kapok in Sand €575,00

The Orb — Available through The Orb

This vessel presents a tall, quietly assertive form, defined by a continuous rise and fall of volume along its vertical axis. The body swells and contracts with measured restraint, creating a sense of contained movement that feels both deliberate and intuitive. A small, open mouth crowns the form, offering a subtle point of release without interrupting its overall balance.

Fine, linear striations trace the surface, recording the rhythm of the hand and giving the piece a tactile, almost architectural presence. Finished in a warm, sand-toned surface, the vessel engages softly with light, allowing texture and form to remain at the forefront.

Tania Whalen,

Born in London and now based in Brooklyn, Whalen creates hand-built ceramic works that honor the raw, expressive nature of clay. Using traditional pinch and coil techniques, her process is slow and intuitive, allowing each form to develop organically. Textured surfaces and sculptural silhouettes emerge through touch, balance, and restraint.

Inspired by nature, architecture, and everyday forms, her work embraces imperfection and quiet strength. Often left unglazed on the exterior, the pieces emphasize tactility and the inherent character of the material, existing as singular objects that move fluidly between function and sculpture.
