Ginkgo Sculpture €790,00

The Orb — Available through The Orb

Inspired by the ancient ginkgo leaf, this hand-built sculptural form is crafted from black stoneware clay. The exterior surface is richly textured, emphasizing the fan-like rhythm of the leaf, while the interior is softly glazed to create a subtle contrast.

Each piece is individually made and signed, celebrating the natural asymmetry and quiet strength of the ginkgo—an enduring symbol of resilience and longevity.

This work is sculptural in nature and is not watertight.

Tania Whalen,

Born in London and now based in Brooklyn, Whalen creates hand-built ceramic works that honor the raw, expressive nature of clay. Using traditional pinch and coil techniques, her process is slow and intuitive, allowing each form to develop organically. Textured surfaces and sculptural silhouettes emerge through touch, balance, and restraint.

Inspired by nature, architecture, and everyday forms, her work embraces imperfection and quiet strength. Often left unglazed on the exterior, the pieces emphasize tactility and the inherent character of the material, existing as singular objects that move fluidly between function and sculpture.
