Raised in Monterrey and now based in Mexico City, designer and artist Maika Palazuelos approaches objects as quiet carriers of narrative.

Her work moves fluidly between sculpture and functional design, guided by an interest in how material forms can hold memory, fiction, and emotional resonance. Rather than treating furniture as purely utilitarian, she imagines each piece as a subtle protagonist within the everyday landscape of domestic life.

Material experimentation remains central to her process. Metals, textiles, wax, and industrial components are frequently explored for their expressive potential rather than their expected function. Her practice emerged from a background in visual art, where painting and conceptual exploration shaped an intuitive sensitivity to composition, texture, and symbolism.
