Showing Reverence to Light and the Expansiveness of the Essential

The Bio

Farrah Sit designs evocative lighting, furniture, and sculptural home objects. Her work surfaces beauty from wells of tension, foregrounding unseen space and forces: the moment breath is lost to anticipation, when an icicle is about to plummet, a band to snap, a wave to crash, an echo to fade.

Farrah’s work expresses her process of material reduction, wedding spareness with the inherent grace of natural elements. Each piece is a contemplation on essentiality.

The Conversation

Visiting Farrah Sit’s studio feels calm and focused. The space is small and intentional, shaped as an office and studio where she can think, work, and present a selection of her objects. Everything is placed with care, allowing materials, forms, and light to be read clearly. It’s a space that reflects how she works: quietly, patiently, and with attention.

Her work is built around brass, stone, and ceramic — materials chosen for their weight, texture, and durability. Geometry plays a central role, but never in a rigid way. Forms twist, loop, and soften, gradually revealing balance through movement. There’s a sense of tension held gently, as if the objects are caught mid-gesture rather than fixed in place.

During our visit, Farrah spoke softly about her process, explaining how she approaches form through play and repetition. She emphasized the importance of working closely with artisans, valuing long-term relationships and shared understanding. Some of her pieces are produced in Portugal, where craftsmanship and material knowledge are central to how the work comes to life.
